Over the summer, I’ve been taking an Entrepreneurship class. The class focus’ on the development of a personal business, whether real or fictional. I chose to do both as I’ve been meaning to get my butt in gear with trying to make some extra money with my prints.

Environmental Design Project

So, I created this short commercial type video for my Environmental Design class. The restrictions and requirements of the project were absurdly complicated and mind-boggling and I have no interest in boring everyone with the details. Just enjoy.

Holy wow, Hi! It’s been forever since I’ve posted anything, so I decided to post a bit of a clusteryouknowwhat of things that I’ve been working on and things that have been making me happy this quarter. In chronological order, these are a few things that have been bringing me joy:

From the Artist Books class I took with Lindsay, Andrea and Nick last quarter. This was one of the few altered pages I actually liked.

I love Adam.

My mom got a puppy. His name is Jack and I love him so much I want to squeeze him until his brains fall out.

Bedroom.

I have a temporary portfolio website set up through tumblr. Working on a real one. With my own big bad domain and whatnot.

For a web design project. Creating a band site for Ipso Facto. Love them.

Photo used as part of a project that I did for my Environmental design class. I just love this picture so much. It makes me smile every time I see it.

You really should be excited.

Gelatin and Arrowroot prints. I’m taking a class on 19th century photo processes and this is what we do. We also get to wear lab coats and silly goggles and pretend to be scientists!

I bought a moleskin. I’ve always wanted one, but my practical mind kept me from doing so. I’m so glad I coughed up the dough for this little beauty.

6x6x2010? I’m mostly just using it as an excuse to mess around with the art supplies I rarely have time to touch anymore. Au Revoir, Auf Wiedersehen CS4! I’m tired of staring at a screen all the time!

I dunno. I did it kind of quickly. I used to hate pastels but I guess workable fixative makes it a lot easier to handle. Maybe I’ll use it more, especially since I had to buy a new thing of Nupastels for just this project.

I think I’m starting to realize that I’m too lazy or anxious to draw features the right way or in the right place and it ends up looking really blocky because I’m never interested in finishing anything. Just a thought.

This picture really doesn’t show it very well because I have a gloss finish on top of each letter (It’s actually crackle medium, but, go figure, NO crackles to be found), and I used flash because it’s too dark in here right now for manual and yeah. If you click on the photo you can see it a little better.

Maybe someday I’ll take a real picture of it.

This artist’s photographic series entitled “Shadow People” is as mysterious as it is perfectly executed and just downright gorgeous.

I mean, really. Think about all the work that went into the costuming for this series.

I can only wish that I dreamt of these things.

Second artist book: In progress

My second artist book will be comprised of 1920s-esque photographs, and cut-up pieces of animal illustrations will be collaged on top of them. Many will obscure the face, which is why I was able to use myself as a model for a lot of the photos instead of a bunch of different people. Luckily, my wonderful hairdresser roommate was home, and did finger waves in my hair, which I’ve always wanted to do, so it was very exciting. Unluckily, by the time I got everything set up, it had fallen out a little bit, which you can see in a few photos. I will probably go back and edit out more stray hairs and the wrinkles in the sheet and stuff like that. And if you see my nose hoop, remember, most of them will have the face obscured.

And after I combed out my hair, it looked like this:

Very ’40s! I was sad I couldn’t use it for anything, or that I don’t have the ability to make it do that every day. Because I would.

Now, the question is, why am I spending more time on this project than the ones I have to do for my actual major?

It’s a mystery.
